6 Summer Yoga Festivals You Haven’t Already Missed

Summer is the time of year when many people are looking for something to do. Festivals are a great way to spend some free time, but there are also yoga festivals happening across the country!

Festivals can be fun and relaxing, or they can be challenging with lots of physical activity. If you want to find out more about summer festivals near you, keep reading!

Are you envious of friends who got the chance to attend one (or more) of this summer’s larger-than-life yoga events? It’s not too late to sign up for a weekend of asana, meditation, spiritual bonding, and extraordinary yoga-centric activities. If you’re longing to retreat before temperatures drop and leaves fall, take the plunge and sign up for one of these late-summer events.

I.G. (Inspiration Generation) Getaway

Where: Los Angeles, CA

What better way to say goodbye to summer than with a weeklong yoga celebration in sunny Los Angeles with internationally famed teachers from Instagram, including our own fit mom Laura Kasperzak, Dylan Werner, Briohny Smyth, and Dice Iida-Klein? The event will begin with an opening party on Friday night, followed by a weekend of workshops. Then, you’re invited to participate in the three-day Explore LA Yoga Retreat, where you’ll get a chance to test out premier studios throughout the city. Between classes, local guides will lead tours and coordinate activities like paddleboard yoga, hiking, biking, surfing, and morning meditations on the beach.

Sat Nam Fest East

Experience the healing power of Kundalini Yoga and discover your true Self, while breathing in the fresh mountain air in beautiful rural Pennsylvania, only 90 minutes from Washington, D.C., and Baltimore.

Sat Nam Fest East is arriving early this year, with outdoor workshops, concerts, hiking, water activities, and camping at the Capital Retreat Center in the Catoctin Mountains. Take a swim in the lake near secluded campgrounds or in the pool alongside the great lawn between practices. This is your chance to move, chant, reflect, and uncover your deepest creativity.

Bhakti Fest West

Where: Joshua Tree, CA

Practice yoga and meditation with premiere teachers including Sianna Sherman, Shiva Rea, Mark Whitwell, and Kia Miller, dance to sacred music by world-renowned Kirtan artists, feast on vegetarian fare, camp under the stars, and give to those in need—all at one festival!

Hosted at the heavenly Joshua Tree Retreat Center in Los Angeles, Bhakti Fest offers up an all-encompassing yoga experience with the goal of giving back. The festival is part of the Center for Spiritual Studies, a non-profit that supports charities around the world, many in India. After covering event costs, Bhakti Fest proceeds are donated to chosen causes each year.

Live Well, Be Well

When: September 12

Where: Bethel, NY

Get ready for peace, love, and lots of yoga. The inaugural Live Well, Be Well Festival will be held at the original site of Woodstock, hosted by the Bethel Woods Center for the Arts. The Integral Yoga Institute will open with a tribute to Sri Swami Satchidananda, who opened the 1969 music festival.

And Tom Law, who soothed the crowd of nearly 500,000 with on-stage yoga in between music sets, will host a lecture in the event gallery. Power Yoga for Sports founder Gwen Lawrence will teach a master class on the great lawn, and DJ HiFi will be uplifting the masses throughout the day. The Museum at Bethel Woods will also be open. You don’t want to miss this historic occasion.

Wanderlust 108

Where: Brooklyn, NY; Washington D.C.

Take your practice—and sense of adventure—to new heights by enrolling in one of Wanderlust’s “mindful triathlons” in Brooklyn or D.C. this September. Wanderlust 108 includes a 5k run, outdoor yoga experience, guided meditation, and so much more. The best part: Community trumps competition in this race. Everyone wins!

This yoga hybrid extravaganza also showcases live bands and DJs, inspirational talks, lawn activities like hooping, slacklining, and acroyoga, and local food and craft vendors. Challenge your body, calm your mind, and connect with fellow “competitors” at this innovative event.

Hamptons Yogafest

Where: Bridgehampton, NY

This first-ever weekend-long yoga festival in the Hamptons will feature local and international yoga instructors and musicians, with challenging workshops by day and whimsical concerts by night. The festival grounds will have a variety of areas to explore, including a healing village, community village, peaceful planet kids village, vendor village, and organic food and beverage bar.

Get acupuncture or a massage in the healing village, partake in arts, crafts, and music in the community village, and then grab a bite to eat at the organic food and beverage bar. Co-creators Jenna Walter and Alex Grant promise festival-goers a life-changing experience.
