A Yoga practice that emphasizes the importance of Core Strength with the benefits of a strong Yoga foundation.
Core exercises are an important part of a well-rounded yoga practice. Core exercises improve your balance and stability, they help tone your abs and help you to move from the core throughout your practice.
The body's "core" refers to the muscles around the abdomen, pelvis and back. They are also the spines primary stabilizer. The core muscles are almost always active. From sitting to standing, walking to running, the core muscles are at work stabilizing our body.
Weak core muscles make one more susceptible to poor posture, back pain and injuries during activity. Core exercises train the muscles in your pelvis, lower back, hips and abdomen to work in harmony. This leads to better balance, stability, lean and strong abdominal muscles, and a stronger, more fluid yoga practice.
Whether you're a novice coming to the mat for the first time or a committed yogi, you will derive the benefits of core development combined with a strong yoga foundation.
Each class will start with a core warm up, and bring awareness to this area. Moving into an asana practice utilizing the core to move into and transition through the poses, to balance and stabilize. This is an all levels class, with some arm balances and inversions. |
